Yup! That was it 😊 Apparently it’s not a term used outside the Christian community 🙃 I had never heard it until a Bible class someone said it and it clicked!
Two times in my walk with the Lord I have had startling aha moments regarding what it was going to cost me if I was going to continue to be willing become who God was calling me to be and become. One of those moments I've shared already - the moment I realized it was going to entail the cost of being misunderstood. The other time, I'm still processing since re- remembering - about how I wanted to pull back after deciding I didn't want to be the wild woman in the room (I was in a "training for reigning" school, led by a prophet, and it had been quite an intense week, and over the weekend I decided I wasn't willing to go any further) I returned to school Monday morning and basically got called out by the prophet. That's what your article brought to mind. Perhaps when the time is right I will write about it.
Daniela, I hung onto every single word until the very end. And it ended too soon. I know you have more to write. Your experiences were so incredibly relatable.
I can't even think of the right things to say right now, and believe me, that's not easy to make happen. The hobbies, music, playlists, pop culture, profanity, movies, TV and reality shows...it all gets tossed into a giant blender and you have no idea what's going to come out the other side.
I pictured in my mind the scene of you sliding down the wall onto the floor, grabbing your head and wondering exactly what is happening to you. I felt like I was right there in the room with you, watching as you quietly tried to figure it all out. This story, like the one you shared about your beloved brother, is so very poignant.
We're nothing alike, and we're everything alike. The loosing of things, people, family, and identities - entirely for the One so amazingly perfect and "invisible"...how can you explain that to people close to you, knowing you as the "old" you and then trying to reconcile it all in the new Spirit? And how will they take it?
D, you are such a gift to Jesus. Your struggles and your pain have brought you exactly where He intended you to be in your life, and there's no denying the one you shed was destined to be replaced by the woman who would write a new story worthy of sharing to other lost souls.
If I were to be completely honest with you, I was waiting for this story. I wasn't sure when, but I knew it was coming. When I saw this post, I just had a sense what it was about. Thank you for putting your journey into words and baring your heart.
John I'm sitting at my desk chuckling right now trying to find the words to respond to your beautiful comment. We're two writers who seem to make each other speechless. Oh the irony! I really appreciate your support and belief in me. "We're nothing alike, and we're everything alike," is exactly right. We are kindred spirits indeed. I'm glad you relate and understand what this is like. My heart is to put words to the experiences others may be having. To answer your comment, yes more is coming on this, it definitely does not stop here :) Sending hugs John, thank you for being here!
Thank you for sharing this part of your story. It’s hard part to go from AA to following Jesus, and I’ve witnessed many lose the very community they found identity in over it. Thank God for the Lord who sees you, loves you, and walks with you. I’m so glad you’re feeling His presence and are growing more In His Image (also a Jen wilkin book-great read!) cheering you on and praying for you sis!
This is wonderful. There have been numerous times in my walk with God where this type of deeper plunge has happened. It’s really uncomfortable at first as God highlights how much change needs to happen. But the way of the cross is always the way to the crown.
I love the beautiful honesty here. I wish I was able to speak to what you are experiencing but I became a believer so young I have no memory of the other side.
But I can offer you my friendship and prayer. Reach out anytime if you need a friend. We are sisters now!
I think the word you’re looking for is sanctification. It’s such a great thing to see Jesus working in your life!!

From the Sopranos to the Chosen, that is indeed quite the transformation. And thank you for sharing, as I had an "aha" moment while I was reading.
Yvonne thank you so much! Would love to know what the "aha" moment was for you. Would you mind sharing in a DM? Thank you for reading, hugs!

Well wow…for the most part you just spoke my truth as well. Blown away. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Susan for reading and commenting. I'm glad it resonated for you :)
